Your Online Store Through the Eyes of your Customer

In this article, you will learn how to review how your e-shop looks from a customer’s perspective and what the purchasing process is like for them. This way, you can test whether visiting your e-shop would be a pleasant experience and whether buying products is straightforward and user-friendly. Everything is very simple—just go to your website and browse through it, including completing a product purchase.

1. The customer opens the homepage of your e-shop and selects a product category that interests them (e.g., the "Women" category).

2. When they find a product they like, they click on it. This brings them to the product detail page, where they will see a photo of the product, along with a detailed description if you have added one. Once they decide to buy, they click on the Add to cart button.

3. The customer can access their cart by clicking on the Cart button in the upper-right corner. In the cart, the customer can change the quantity of products ordered or remove items from the cart. To proceed with the order, they click the Checkout button. You can also customize the appearance of the Shopping cart page; more information can be found in the guide How to edit the Cart page.

4. In the next step, the customer is asked to enter their contact information. If they are purchasing as a business, they can check the Company billing option and fill in their company details. The customer proceeds to the next step by clicking on the Continue button.

TIP: At this step, the user can also enter a voucher or promo code—more information on creating vouchers can be found in the guide Discounts, vouchers and free shipping

5. Next, the customer can choose a shipping method. The shipping cost will automatically be added to the total product price. The customer will see a price breakdown and the total amount in the right column. After choosing the shipping method, the customer clicks the Continue button.

6. Next, the customer selects a payment method. After choosing the payment method, they click the Continue button.

7. In the order confirmation window, the customer can review their order and check the accuracy of the information entered. Contact information, delivery address, and payment method can be edited by clicking on Edit. To be able to send the order, the customer must check the box I agree to the Terms and Conditions. Links and files for the Terms and Conditions and Privacy Policy can be configured according to the instructions found here. The order is submitted by clicking on the Finish Order button.

TIP: You can also customize some parts of the purchasing process. Specific information can be found in the article How to customize checkout settings.

8. The "Thank you for your order" page will be displayed. The customer can return to the e-shop homepage by clicking on the Back to homepage link. You can also edit the content of the order confirmation page using the guide How to Edit the "Thank you for your order" Page.

9. Order confirmation will automatically be sent to the email address the customer entered during checkout. The text of this notification and others related to the order (e.g., order status updates, invoice delivery, etc.) can be customized—more information can be found in our article How to edit automatic notifications.

Additionally, a notification about the order will be sent to your email as well. The email will include a link where you can directly manage the order.
