What is an electronic certificate?
An electronic domain registration certificate is an official PDF document that proves ownership of your domain. The certificate contains the owner's name, domain name, unique identification number, registration date, and expiration date. Each certificate includes a QR code linking to a public verification page, allowing a third party to instantly verify that the information in the document is accurate.
What can you use it for?
The certificate is useful whenever you need to prove to a third party that a particular domain belongs to you:
- verification of accounts on advertising platforms — Google Ads, Meta Business Manager, and others often require proof of domain ownership
- company profiles on social media — Facebook, LinkedIn, and Instagram when verifying a brand
- domain disputes — as supporting documentation when resolving disputes with third parties
- banking and financial services — when setting up business accounts associated with the domain
- business partnerships — whenever you need formal proof of ownership
What does the certificate contain?
- domain name (for example, yourcompany.com)
- owner's name (or company name and address, if applicable)
- registration date and expiration date
- unique identification number in the format DC-{year}-{code}
- QR code linking to a public verification page
- Webnode logo as the issuer
Is the certificate valid after renewing the domain?
No, the certificate is valid for the specific registration period stated in the document. After renewing your domain, you can order an updated certificate with the new dates.
Can I get a certificate for a domain that I don't have registered with Webnode?
No, we only issue certificates for domains registered with Webnode as the registrar. If you only have a domain connected via DNS from another provider, we cannot issue a certificate.
Can I have multiple certificates issued for the same domain?
Yes, you can download the certificate multiple times or request a new one with the current information. Each copy is valid.
How can I get a certificate?
You can order the certificate in two ways:
1. Directly after registering the domain
After successfully registering a domain with Webnode, you will receive an email with an offer for the certificate and a link to place your order.
2. By contacting customer support
Contact our support team from the email address of the project owner and request a certificate for your domain.
Once your order has been paid for, we will send you the certificate by email in PDF format.
