Setting Up Your New Webnode Webmail in Mac OS

In this guide, you will learn how to set up your email, for the new Webnode webmail interface, on the Mac OS operating system. The values in this guide are also valid for most other email clients and different versions of Mac OS.

Before setting up the email client, you need to create an email address in the Webnode system.

WARNING: If you are using the original web interface, you can connect your email mailbox according to the guide

Mail Settings for MacOS

To set up your email client, follow these steps:

1. Open the Mail application.

2. Click on the Mail tab and select Add Account

3. Choose Other Mail Account and confirm by clicking Continue

4. Enter the name that will be displayed to the recipient of the message, the email address you are setting up, and the password for your email account. Confirm by clicking Sign In. The system will now attempt to automatically detect the server settings.

5. Automatic setup is unlikely to work, so please enter the following settings manually:

Email Address: Enter the email address you are setting up

Username: Enter the same address as in the previous step

Password: Enter the password for the email address being set up

Account Type: Choose POP or IMAP. The difference between POP and IMAP is explained at the end of this guide.

Incoming Mail Server: Enter imap.mail.webnode.com

Outgoing Mail Server: Enter smtp.mail.webnode.com

To complete the setup, click Sign In

6. Here, you can confirm everything by clicking Done

At this point, your email account should be correctly set up and linked to the email client.

You can also access your email through the Webnode portal

Final TIPS:

1. What is the difference between a POP and an IMAP account?

Both are incoming mail protocols, meaning the way the email client handles incoming messages stored on the mail server.

With POP (POP3), messages are downloaded to your device. This means they are deleted from the server, and you will not be able to read them on another computer or through another email client. However, the advantage of POP is that messages will be available on your computer even without an internet connection. The POP protocol is suitable if you have a weak internet connection or if you always check your email on a single device.

IMAP, unlike POP, displays messages on the mail server in real-time. Any changes you make on one device will reflect on another device or email client. For example, if you delete an incoming email on your mobile phone, this change will also appear on all other devices you use, as well as in the webmail interface. Sent emails will also be visible across all devices. Keep in mind that IMAP requires a constant internet connection.

If you travel frequently and use the internet on mobile devices and different computers, IMAP will be the better option for you.
