In this guide, you will learn how to set up your email, for the new Webnode webmail interface, on iPhone devices (for illustration, an iPhone 11 with iOS 18.0.1 is used). The values in this guide are also valid for most other email clients and iOS versions.
Before setting up the email client, you need to create an email address in the Webnode system.
WARNING: If you are using the original web interface, you can connect your email mailbox to your iPhone according to the guide Adding Your Webnode Email Address to an iPhone.
To set up your email, follow these steps:
1. Open the Mail application on your iPhone.
2. Select the Other option.
3. Enter the name that will be displayed to the recipient of the message, the email address you are setting up, and the password for your email account. In the Description field, you can enter any label.
4. Choose IMAP or POP. The difference between POP and IMAP accounts is explained at the end of this guide. Then enter your name, the email address created on Webnode, the password, and optionally the Description again.
For incoming and outgoing mail settings, follow these steps:
Incoming mail host: imap.mail.webnode.com
Incoming mail username: Full email address
Password: The password chosen when creating the email
Outgoing mail host: smtp.mail.webnode.com
Outgoing mail username: Full email address
Enter the same password again as chosen for this email
5. Complete the setup by clicking Next. The phone will take about a minute to verify the settings, after which the setup is complete. On the final setup page, simply click Save.
WARNING: iPhone automatically prefers port 587. This port is functional; however, some network providers may block it. Therefore, we recommend using port 465 for the SMTP connection.
Final TIPS:
1. What is the difference between a POP and an IMAP account?
Both are incoming mail protocols, meaning the way the email client handles incoming messages stored on the mail server.
With POP (POP3), messages are downloaded to your device. This means they are deleted from the server, and you will not be able to read them on another computer or through another email client. However, the advantage of POP is that messages will be available on your computer even without an internet connection. The POP protocol is suitable if you have a weak internet connection or if you always check your email on a single device.
IMAP, unlike POP, displays messages on the mail server in real-time. Any changes you make on one device will reflect on another device or email client. For example, if you delete an incoming email on your mobile phone, this change will also appear on all other devices you use, as well as in the webmail interface. Sent emails will also be visible across all devices. Keep in mind that IMAP requires a constant internet connection.
If you travel frequently and use the internet on mobile devices and different computers, IMAP will be the better option for you.
2. Are you having trouble setting up your email client?
Our support team will be happy to assist you with the setup. Just let us know which email you want to configure and which email client you wish to use. It is best to submit your request via the contact form in your Webnode account administration.
To speed up the resolution of your request, please send us screenshots showing your email client settings (especially mail servers and relevant ports). If you encounter any error messages, please include a screenshot of the error message as well.
