How to set an alternative URL for individual website pages

In this guide, you will learn how to create alternative links (URLs) for individual website pages in the Webnode editor [LINK]. This feature is useful for creating shorter and more user-friendly links for your visitors while keeping the original URL active. Alternative links are redirected to the original page URLs. Such redirection is SEO-friendly and is known as a 301 redirect

Example of use:

Your page has the URL “website.com/my-old-link-on-the-web” in the editor, but you would like to use and share “website.com/my-link” without making a direct change in the editor.

In the past (for example, on a website hosted by another provider), you had a page with the URL “website.com/directory/my-original-link-on-the-web” and now you have a new page “website.com/new-link” with the same content. By setting up an alternative link, visitors using the old address will be redirected to the new page.

How to set up alternative links:

1. In the editor, click Pages in the upper left corner.

2. Select a page and open the SEO page settings section

3. Scroll down to the URL redirect section and enter the alternative link you want to redirect to this page.

4. Publish the changes
